The farmer-funded research & innovation body, AgriSearch, has reported that its GrassCheck project has once again delivered significant benefits to NI farmers during the 2018 grazing season. In particular, this year’s data was used by DAERA to help make the case for an increase in the rate of advance CAP payments due to adverse weather events in 2018. SHOWCASING THE LATEST BEEF AND SHEEP RESEARCH
AgriSearch will be in attendance at this year’s Royal Ulster Premier Beef & Lamb Championships on Tuesday 27th November 2018 at the Eikon Exhibition Centre, Balmoral Park. The AgriSearch stand will feature research findings of relevance to all Northern Ireland beef and lamb producers.  This will include “Beef from Grass” and “Lamb from Grass” which form part of GrassCheck. Making the most of grass will be the key topic of discussion at the AgriSearch-AFBI-CAFRE ‘Flock health and grassland walks’ at the farms of Isaac and Elizabeth Crilly, Castlederg, and John Martin, Greyabbey on the 10th and 11th September respectively. Ensuring optimum flock health and performance will be top of the agenda at AgriSearch’s upcoming farm walks. These events will showcase the 4 and 8-paddock rotational grazing systems implemented by the GrassCheck sheep farmers as part of the ‘Lamb from Grass’ project.
