MAXIMISING BEEF PRODUCTION FROM GRASS KEY FOCUS FOR SANDHOLES FARM
Making the most from grazed grass will be the key discussion point at an upcoming AgriSearch-AFBI-CAFRE farm walk, to be held on the farm of Wayne Acheson on the outskirts of the village of Sandholes, County Tyrone on Tuesday 21st August at 7pm. Making the most of grass this autumn to boost winter forage options will be the key discussion point at a series of upcoming AgriSearch-AFBI-CAFRE farm walks, the first of which will be held on the farm of Henry Stewart, Stewartstown, County Tyrone. GRASSCHECK FARM WALKS TO BE HELD
AgriSearch, AFBI and CAFRE are organising a series of GrassCheck farm walks to be held on GrassCheck dairy and beef farms in August.  Recent results from the GrassCheck project have highlighted the variability in grass growth and quality both in terms of year to year and field to field.  These seasonal and field variations will be explored and will illustrate how regular measurement of grass has allowed our pilot farmers to be pro-active.
